Well, it's been a busy and mostly crappy year. However, from a literary standpoint I have read some of the freaking BEST books in the last year or so...and it wouldn't be fair to exclude you from that list...all my loving little ninjas. So here you go, a short-ish list of some of the freaking awesome stuff I've read this year....
It might not be RELEASED this year...but I've read it this year...
Also...notable authors...
~ P.S. I love using a tilde....even the word is cool....tilde...~
~Anything by the following authors has my vote:
Christopher Moore <most notably Lamb...but ANYTHING else is funny as hell>
Stephenie Meyer <Twilight Series>
Holly Black <Tithe, Ironside, etc>
Maggie L Wood >Mistolear Series/Princess Pawn>
Adam Selzer <How to Get Suspended and Influence People and sequels...Hilarious>
Tamora Pierce <Tortall Books...LOVE them>
Spider Robinson <Callahan Series>
Sara Pennypacker <Clementine Series>
Cassandra Clare <City of Bones/Mortal Instruments Series>
Jake Wizner <Spanking Shakespeare...both he and Selzer kind of remind me of Chris Moore for the YA crew>
Okay...sidetracked...
Y'know what I love? I have written to, met or gotten signed booty from almost all of those authors...it is friggin' awesome how cool writers are these days. More kids should be aware of this...google your favourite authors and send them an email about how much you love their stuff. I am a complete and utter author whore and not ashamed to say it. If writers had organized groupies like the movie "Almost Famous" I would be Kate Hudson...or at the very least Fairuza Balk....
That's it...I'm gonna get a bunch of my fellow Lit Lovers together and we'll form a Literary Groupie Coalition....
I'm done rambling now...this post derailed from my original train of thought....
I promise I'll give a more up to date list next time...
Next time, Gadget, next time....
It was like fifty times better than last year!! Stayed in the same hotel (Fairmont Royal York...very swanky) and did the following:
~had a 14 dollar martini in the Library Cafe
~Had a lovely Winter dinner at Marcel's...tried a Kir Royale...very tasty.
~Ate a very late dinner at Bellini's or somthing like that...Bobby, the waiter, was awesome.
~Went to Eaton Centre for some shopping and ate at Mr. Green Jeans
~Managed to go see a taping of Air Farce Live...wicked sweet!
~Managed to barter my way into a taping of The Rick Mercer Report!
~MET AND GOT AN AUTOGRAPH AND PIC WITH RICK MERCER!!! I love him.
At SuperCon, I managed to become FAMOUS for being a supercool Library Ninja...and having Timothy, my oft maligned cart.
I also had the pleasure of meeting and getting autographs from the following authors:
Kathy Kacer and L.M. Falcone ("Hiding Edith" and "Walking With The Dead")
Nancy Shouse ("Any Pet Will Do")
Liam O'Donnell ("Wild Ride: A Graphic Guide Adventure")
Melanie Jackson ("Shadows on the Train")
Tom Schwarzkopf ("Danger At Mason's Island") *no pic
Bev Katz Rosenbaum ("Beyond Cool") * poor quality pic
Jeremy Tankard ("Grumpy Bird") *no pic, no meeting...just have signed book....next time, Gadget, next time...
Rebecca Upjohn ("Lily and the Paper Man")
Patricia Storms, illustrator ("13 Ghosts on Halloween")
Cassandra Clare ("The Mortal Instruments Trilogy: The City of Bones")
Melanie Watt ("Scaredy Squirrel")
Calvin Nicholls (signed poster)
A poster signed by Lucy Maud Montgomery's grand daughter.
My second day there, I was struck by a bad cold...just as Southern Ontario was struck by a bad cold. Anyway, must go have nap...so tired...and hungry. Write more later.

Wow, March Break is almost over!! Here's the deal on how your Library Ninja has been keeping busy!
1) Sleeping in! Ha haaaaa, alarm clock at 6:30 no longer! Now my eyes don't open until...6:30, then 7:00, then 8:30! WoW!
2) Cleaning House! Found out that contrary to popular belief, my carpet is GREEN, not Calico.
3) Watching movies and reading! Like I do anything else in my spare time.
4) Playing video games! Mostly Fable and Guitar Hero. Okay, scratch that last comment from number 3.
5) Rediscovering my gym equipment in the basement...and consequently discovering just how long I can use an elliptical before the huge blister on my foot makes me vault off the machine and rip my shoe off like it's on fire. If you're curious, it's 20 minutes.
6) Visiting Lana and Maggie in London! Spent 8 hours in London with the hubby for a business meeting. Well, I spent a goodly amount of time in the car reading Genetics for Dummies and gleefully doing punnett squares for rabbit fur colour/texture and height of pea plants. Then had a fantastic lunch at Casey's with my buddy Lana and MAGGIE L WOOD!!! YAAAAY!!! Afterwards, Maggie and I went shopping at a little Occult store and a Comic Book store where I bought a book on Numerology and bought my hubby his new Xmen Comic and the board game for D&D Clue. We are such nerds, it's fantastic. AND I got to ride in Betty!!
7) Had lunch with the hubby and some of his work peeps.
8) Spent an OBSCENE amount of money at Chapters...I mean in the multiple hundreds.
9) I am going to see 300 on Friday, having the in-laws up on Saturday...going to read and play more fable and stuff.
What I read and watched this week...
Read:
Genetics for dummies...I know it screams NERD, but I really liked Biology in school.
Mister Monday and part of Grim Tuesday...okay I LOVE this series, it's very interesting and I love how Garth Nix crafts the whole world of the House and all the little nuances of it's laws/rules/people.
Finished all the Caroline Meyer Young Royals books, waiting patiently for more...
Started the Numerology book Maggie suggested to me...it's fun!
Started reading Tattoo by Jennifer Barnes.
Watched:
Candy Man: A horror classic....but I forgot how bad it was.
Beowulf and Grendel: The reviews said it was horrible. It had Gerard Butler in it, which was one of the biggest reasons I watched it, aside from the fact that it had Sarah Polley in it, who I love. That said, I am getting TIRED of fast forwarding through movies. Sarah Polley, I love you, but you shouldn't be in a movie set in a foreign land if you can't fake at least some SEMBLANCE of an accent. I could buy the scotsmen as men from "Dainland" but your eccentric, outsider character would have been more believable without the Canadian accent. And the movie seemed to drag onnnnnnnnnn and onnnnnnnn. I think having Gerard Butler READ the Beowulf poem ALOUD to the camera may have been more interesting. Oh, and props to Stellan Skaarsgard...you're a champ.
Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing: I LIKE the Dixie Chicks. I like them a whole lot more after seeing this movie. Great insight into the controversy and the hype over the "incident" involving Natalie Maines and George Bush. And a great commentary on Freedom of Speech in the U.S.
H.P Lovecraft's Beyond the Wall of Sleep: Oh my God! It was like watching a student art film! The actors were clearly from that school of acting that has you OVER enuncIATE cerTAIN parts of Every WORD, you might recognize the name: The Shatner School of Acting. The plot was nonexistent and nonsensical. The lines were all lifted from either early comic books or 1960's horror films. (Ex. "You fool! You'll kill us all!") They even botched the guest appearance by Cthulu! (Look it up) The zombie movie I plan to make this summer will apparently have a bigger budget than this movie. Even on fast forward it was still bad. H.P. Lovecraft I want that hour of my life back.
Little Miss Sunshine: I liked this movie...but it is NOT a comedy. It has moments of comedy, but mostly it's just dark. I love Steve Carrell from The Office and The 40 Year Old Virgin, and he delivers in this movie as well. He can do more with his deadpan expression than others can do in 10 lines of dialogue. He made this movie for me. Check it out.
Fast Food Nation: This is another case of the book being better than the movie. They took an interesting and contemporary topic and tried to turn it into fiction. And it did NOT work for me. We follow the lives of three different characters that intertwine in the fast food industry. The corporate schill trying to investigate the source of tainted meat, the illegal mexicans working at the meat packing plant and the teenager from a single parent family working the counter. Doesn't that sound interesting?!! Well the movie was about as interesting as that sentence can possibly sound. Had I been able to find the remote it would have been a "Fast Forward Nation".
Okay, time for this cheeky monkey to go out to the Keg for lunch! I LOVE the Keg. So it's that time again, go outside, play a sport, read a book, wash your car...but get your butt away from the computer for 5 minutes!!
From,
Your Friendly Neighbourhood Library Ninja.

Wow, so I pretty much burnt myself out during Christmas Break, reading all those Forest Books (Last Count: 24 of 36 books read). So I took a brief hiatus from reading fiction and immersed myself in a few great comics, online and in print.
Print Comics Read:
PVP (Player vs. Player): A gaming comic, very funny and great story arcs that old school gamers and contemporary gamers can appreciate. Some plots border on "soap opera" but they're all in good fun!
The Essential Xmen (The first 20 comics): I gave this a try since the hubby likes them, but man, old school comics just aren't my thing. I know I'm committing comic book heresy here but...Stan Lee's comic stories are just boring. There I said it, now hundreds of fanboys and fangirls are going to roast me alive. To each his own.
The Far Side: I like Gary Larson's comics. Some of them are very apparent with their humour, others make you look twice until you get that "Oh, yeahhhhh" moment.
Online Comics:
I'm not going to blurb about these, there are too many that I read daily so here's a quick list. Most of these are gaming comics...I'm a gamer, I make no apologies.

Books Read in the last while:
Chris Moore's "You Suck: A Love Story" - If you know me, you know I LOVE his writing and own copies of every book. This is the sequel to "Bloodsucking Fiends" which was one of his first books. As always, it's witty, engaging and bloody hysterical. He is one of the few authors that consistently makes me laugh OUT LOUD when I read his work. Seriously, don't read his work on a bus, it makes the other passengers nervous as you burst into giggles. And I snort when I laugh, picture that one.
Ann Brashares' "Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood" - I do enjoy this series. But I must admit some of the characters in the beginning of this book were driving me crazy, I wanted to smack Carmen and ask her what was wrong. But that is a testament to Ann's great writing: If you want to smack a character and ask what's wrong, you're hooked. A great finale for the series, clerverly wrapped up. I must say that most of the characters seemed to be, how shall we say, more promiscuous in this one.
Patricia McCormick's "Cut" - From the writer who brought us "Sold", this author tackles yet another sensitive, but contemporary topic. This book chronicles the life of a teenage girl (whose name escapes me right now and I don't want to trek downstairs to get the book and check...yeah I'm lazy...live with it) who is sent to a care facility for teenagers with issues like: anorexia, obesity, bulimia, self mutilation and abuse. The girl in question is a "cutter" who can't cope with the stresses in her life. This book follows her progression through therapy, her relationship with the other girls in the facility and her relationship to her family. A very interesting read which I completed in one sitting.
Hugh Laurie's "The Gun Seller" - Yes, this is a book by THAT Hugh Laurie, the indomitable (look it up) Dr. House. What CAN'T that man do? Seriously, he can act, sing, play numerous instruments, write, speak several languages and he's a hottie to boot. The man is a NINJA. I want to marry him. And he's British. This book is awesome. It's got a Douglas Adams meets Film Noir vibe, with that lovely dose of dry, British humour. Did I mention I want to marry him?
** Just as an aside here, to show my dedication to bringing you, the reader, the very latest in good books, film and random insanity: I am in a significant amount of pain as I type this, due to a mishap with my rather vicious can opener. Dedication, that's all I'm saying.
Beth Goobie's "Hello, Groin" - Some of you might know Beth's work from the Bayview High Series, most notably "Something Girl" which covered the issue of abuse. In this novel we are following the story of Dylan, teenaged female protagonist, who is coming to terms with the fact that not only is she a lesbian, but she is also in love with her best friend who may or may not be in love with her. A very poignant story about being true to yourself amidst the pressures of high school and societal stereotypes that I think alot of people can relate to.
Carolyn Meyer's "Mary, Bloody Mary" - This is part of a great Teen Historical Fiction series called "Young Rulers", which includes titles about Catherine of Aragon, Queen Elizabeth, Anne Boleyn...all relations of Henry VIII. We all know the stories of who was imprisoned, divorced, beheaded, who bore sons and all the history behind that much talked about monarch; these novels are very engaging, reader friendly and inspiring representations of the lives of Henry's women. Reading about Mary and the trials she endured (going from Princess to Servant, pressured to denounce herself as a bastard child, cut off from her mother and made to wait on the "new" Princess Elizabeth) one can almost forget that she burned thousands of people at the stake as heretics. What I also like is that we get to see a continuation of her character through Elizabeth's eyes in "Beware Princess Elizabeth". I read this one straight through and loved every minute of it.
Okay, Here's what's on my desk to read next:
Garth Nix's "Keys to the Kingdom" Series 'Mister Monday' - I cheated and read like 3 chapters of the end of this book, now I have to read all of it. It looks awesome.
John Marsden's "Tomorrow When The War Began" - Looks great, and the series is like 8 books long.
The rest of Carolyn Meyer's Series. I was debating reading another one or writing this...you know...on account of my wounded hand.
Jennifer Lynn Barnes' "Tattoo" - This looks cool, a group of kids get a temp tattoo and end up with powers, deaths start happening around them...right up my alley.
Okay, I have also been watching alot of TV/DVD's and playing some cool PS2 Games.
PS2 Games of Choice right now:
Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2: I can't help it...I wanna be a Rock Star. It's just the coolest game series ever and actually very helpful if you DO play guitar. It builds great speed, dexterity and endurance for budding guitarists...and it's just sweet to rock out to tunes like "Sweet Child O' Mine" , "Monkey Wrench" , "Freebird" and "Ziggy Stardust"...I'm dating myself here....
Latest DVD choices...
Carnevale Season 1 and 2: There were only 2 seasons of this show, aired on HBO from 2003-2005. It was a brilliant and provocative show, and like another favourite (Titus), it was cancelled in it's infancy. This show is most definitely not for several groups of people, most notably: children, the squeamish or the religious right. Taking place in the "Dirty Thirties" dustbowl, Carnevale follows a nomadic group of carneys and their attractions, ranging from: The Bearded Lady, Gecko Man, A Blind Fortune Teller, Conjoined Twins, A Tarot Card Reader and her Catatonic/Psychic mother, A Snake Charmer and a family of "Cooch" Dancers. (If you don't know, I'm not telling). Under the direction of Samson, former midget strongman, and the elusive "Management", they pick up a stranger named Ben Hawkins and begin the ultimate Good vs. Evil Battle. It is a fantastic show with great cinematography, but again, not for kids...too much swearing, nudity, sexual situations, alcohol abuse and sensitive subject matter. It is quite graphic. The plot is very intricate and the writers have created their own mythology to explain the forces of light and dark, and the conditions for their battle. I highly enjoyed it.
Pulse: This movie did not impress me at all. They had an impressive SFX budget, but there were glaring plot holes and shoddy acting. I also thought the ending (which might have been one of 2 possible endings, I don't know I was too bored to watch the special features) felt tacked on, too much of a "Planet of the Apes" deal. It would have been a prefect lead in to Romero's "Land of the Dead". The only way it could have been worse was if they woke up and "It was all a DrEaM....."
TideLand: OH MY GOD! TERRY GILLIAM WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!? In case you didn't know, Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame wrote the screenplay for this movie which made me bleed from the eyes with my need to turn it off. Ten year old Jeliza-Rose, the lovely little moppet from the movie version of "Silent Hill", takes off with rock star dad after mom OD's on methadone. They go to live with Grandma, whose been dead for lord knows how long, and take up residence in her derelict house where Jeliza-Rose, like every other day, helps daddy shoot heroin until he too dies from an overdose. This movie broke my brain. From watching the little girl continue to talk to her putrefying father (Jeff Bridges), to her relationship with the handicapped son of a demented neighbour it was just one painful scene after another. I mean, the girl watches the neighbour perform taxidermy on her FATHER. I was more disturbed by this movie than by the idea of the dead coming through my modem in Pulse. I actually fast forwarded the latter half of the movie. It was like a train wreck...I just...couldn't...look....away. Until the actual train wreck at the end of the movie. and then I thought AHA! A metaphor!
Stay Alive: This movie was fun. And I have to say Frankie Muniz (TV's Malcolm in the Middle) MADE this movie for me. I love a good gaming movie, and the plot was cool. PC Game comes out where if you die in the game you die in real life...like if Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street made Video Games. The downside to watching if your a gamer is you sit there wondering how they got the voice activation software on the game if no one had it installed, and how with one copy of the game they played it over a WAN as an MMORPG. I just spent 2 minutes arguing about that movie with the hubby.
Okay I have now been writing this post for about 2 hours. Done now! Done, Done, Done! Go home! Turn off your computer and go outside!

Once I fashioned these babies (Yes, they were prescription glow-glasses) I was very popular...until two people copied my design. Oh well, anyway, I managed to get out and do some light shopping on boxing day, which I NEVER do because I hate shopping and hate crowds. But I was dying to spend the $135 in Chapters Gift Cards I had. Everyone knows me so well. Sadly, that bought me six books. Yup, six. Although they were all hardcovers, but they were also 30% off. I bought most of "Ology" books I was missing: Pirateology, Wizardology and Egyptology (Still missing Fairyology though) and two hardcover copies of some R.A Salvatore books I wanted. Also, grabbed Holly Black's "Valiant" and I got a new Rowan Atkinson Biography to read. Though I have no time to read any of those books. I have been reading the Forest books like a person possessed. In the last 4 days I have read 5 books (I have also read 7 of the 10 picture books, but they were read before the break started.)So I only have like 24 more books to go!! Here are the ones I've read:
Eric Walters "We All Fall Down" - This is a heavy book and it made me cry. About a boy who does "take your kid to work day" with his dad who works at the WTC on September 11th. So far it totally has my vote for Red Maple Winner.
Bernice Thurman Hunter "The Girls They Left Behind" - Another WWII story from the female p.o.v. A good read, liked the mix of diary format and narrative. Red Maple.
Curtis Parkinson "Domenic's War" - One of the MANY war or disaster related books in the Forest this year. Very good read though, loved how the stories intertwined. So far my pick for Silver Birch Winner.
Penny Draper "Terror at Turtle Mountain" - A good read, very sad. True story about landslide in 1903. Honestly, I am starting to get really depressed reading these books. Silver Birch.
Jacqueline Halsey "Peggy's Letters" - Even in the Express books there are WWII stories. An easy read and kept my attention. Probably my choice for the SB Express Winner.
I am totally not going to want to read fiction after February. Which sucks because I am totally in the mood to re-read the "Legend of Drizzt" Series by Salvatore.
I also have to find time to REORGANIZE MY LIBRARY!! YIKES!! After we moved the furniture around for the new floor, my books got put back in no order whatsoever. It makes me sad.
I have also been watching movies lately too, spending some quality time with the hubby.
Watched: Grosse Point Blank, The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, Clerks 2, Pirates of the Carribbean 2, Tom and Jerry cartoons and reruns of the Simpsons and Robot Chicken.
Oh well, Gotta get ready to ring in the New Year! WOOT!

Have just received Red Maple, Silver Birch, Blue Spruce books, YAAAY!
Have read in the last little bit:
Francis Choulifleur's "After"
Margaret Attwood's "Penelopiad"
and am reading Lori Lansens "The Girls". And then I get to read 36 books over Xmas holidays.
I'm not kidding, 10 Blue Spruce (Yeah I know, they're picture books but they still count), 10 Red Maple and 16 Silver Birch (10 SB plus 6 SB Express). WOOoooooo-ooooooooo.
So my sister in law sent me this link to a site that generates random Military Operation names and here are some of the more comical ones:
Operation Frontier Badger
Operation Unpleasant Bandicoot
Operation Beware of the Butterfly
Operation Sanctimonious Muskrat
Operation Bloodthirsty Kitten
Operation International-Law ignoring Meerkat
Operation Storming Storm
Operation Civilian-devouring Amphibian
Operation Provoked Wizard (I CAST MAGIC MISSILE!)
Operation Umbrageous Marsupial
Operation It's Best to Avoid our Monster
Operation Merciless Jack Russell Terrier
Operation Rouge-wearing Investment Bankers
Operation Terrible Beaver
Operation Narcoleptic Snow Leopard
Operation Unknown Ocelot
Operation Hot Teacher (War Cry written by Van Halen)
Pretty amusing.
Anyway, off to bed now. YAWN!
-Started an informal Boggle club at 2nd Nutrition Break.
-Almost laughed my head clean off when guest speaker for Grade 6's gave Hobbit reference to our lunch break system...calling it First Breakfast and Second Breakfast...I giggled profusely at that.
-Have read (or started) a bunch of new books:
An Edgar Allen Poe Graphic Novel - The Black Cat Story is demonic! Even more so when it's in cartoon form...
Beka Cooper: Terrier by Tamora Pierce - just started.
On The Game - Can't remember author or be bothered to get up and get it...so so sad...I am soooo lazy.
Sold - Patricia McCormick. A great book about kids getting forced into prostitution in India. Funny enough, this theme was what On the Game was about too.
Watched a bunch of new (and old)DVD's (or shows on Youtube):
Clerks II : I love Kevin Smith movies.
The Thin Blue Line: BBC tv series starring Rowan Atkinson...he's my new favourite...I have a signed pic of him now.
Not the Nine O' Clock News - also a BBC tv show starring Rowan Atkinson...see I told you he's my new fave.
Blackadder The Complete Collector's Set - see above. :)
The Lion King - I love that movie. But I was singing "Just can't wait to be king" for two days after that.
WENT AND SAW TAMORA PIERCE AT WATERLOO CHAPTERS!!
I got my books signed and pics taken!! I would post them but this blasted account wants me to pay extra for that...NUTS TO YOU MAN!!
Anyway, there were a ton of people there and me and Lana waited in line for an hour. But I got two of my books signed (one for me and one for hubby) and I got to stammer out my awe like a complete fan girl nerd.
Now, everyone has been asking me what it was like...and I have to be honest...
maybe I was expecting too much...but now I compare every author meeting to Maggie, who was so friendly and welcoming and energetic...that I may be judging other authors a bit unfairly...
I mean, there WERE like a hundred people there, of which I was a virtual nobody, not like at school where I am a coordinator and liason and HAVE to be noticed. And she MUST have been tired by the point I got there. And she WAS good enough to pose for pics.
But...it was very...clipped...I tried to make polite conversation about being a T/L and it seemed like she was not going to comment on what I said, and when she did it was very dismissive. Her PR lady spoke to me more than she did (her PR lady was fantastic, very funny and organized, as PR people should be...must get one...) and I just felt...I don't know, unimportant? Hurried? But again, I was one in a LOOOONG line of fans.
That said, I absolutely LOVE her work, she is so talented and her books are fantastic.
Okay, onward.
Speaking of authors, I had the good fortune to have an author I LOVE, and whose opinion I value greatly take a peek at some of my writing. And I have to say, I was excited when I got back such positive feedback. Like, do a little dance, grinning ear to ear, call my mom to brag excited. I don't want to say who, because I don't want her to get a deluge of work from people asking for a critique of their work. I honestly felt bad about asking her to look at mine... :)
BUT I'M SO GLAD I DID!!
Now I really have to finish my book.
Which I guess I should work on right now....
LATER!!

Claiming Georgia Tate - A good read. Set in the 1950's about a girl who is seeking the truth about the supposed "death" of her mother and trying to deal with living with her abusive father when she is forced to leave her grandparents house by the deatrh of her grandmother.
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus - I LOVE this book! Mo Willems is the best, that pigeon sure is a saucy character.
Jazlyn J and the Bad Hair Day - I met author Renna Bruce at Chapters (she lives in Guelph) and had my copy of the book signed! I also learned why Walter Gretzky demands she use blue marker to sign in! I love meeting authors! That brings my author tally up to...3 met personally and 3 others met through email. Go ME!
The Book of Living and Dying - Strange book. It's actually a story, not a Non-Fiction book. A girl is trying to deal with the death of her brother to cancer when he starts showing up in her room. Very good twists and turns, but at times I was like "Why is that being mentioned in the story? Is that important?"
Inside the Mind of Gideon Rayburn - Have not read yet....but looks good. A girl is inside the head of a boy she likes...
America - A story about a boy who gets lost in the system as a foster child and what happens to him. Very moving, read it in one evening while waiting for House to come on.
OH MY GOD! ALMOST FORGOT! Tamora Pierce will be signing books at the Waterloo Chapters at 6p.m. on November 28th!!! I am SO excited! I totally want to meet her, she is one of my favourite YA authors! I am so lucky to have met so many great authors, either online or in person, in my career! It's so exciting!
On a side note....I signed up for a bellydancing course which started last week and was awesome! It was so much fun!

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, the sequel and 2nd part of the Cullen trilogy. It was awesome. I highly recommend it!
Have been re-reading things too...Tamora Pierce, comics, cheat books for video games...ALL OF THESE COUNT AS READING!!! THIS IS STILL LITERACY!
Ahem, off of soapbox now, I have been playing Dead Rising lately, which is really cool...I just LOVE zombie video games. But it is proving to be most difficult...
Added beanbags and more stuffies to my library, along with my posters of certain teachers READING! I love those posters.
Hope everything is going well with my library helpers and eights from last year as they get ready for highschool!
I've been on a baking/cooking kick lately...made two loaves of bread on my bread machine, made homemade soup and cupcakes with homemade icing. The icing is SO GOOD! But so very bad for you...
Just got back from a BBQ with my pal, had a blast and played horse shoes...I am not very good at horse shoes.
Am hoping to go to the Eden Mills Writer's Festival this month...
Well, gotta get ready for school! Have fun!

I just finished Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight". Wow, it was so awesome, by far the best vampire novel I've read in a long time.
Went to Staples' Teacher Appreciation thing today and spent a bunch of money! Going into school on Friday to do some library tidying and prep for September.
"Every fight is a food fight...to a cannibal."
Well, school is almost upon us again! I just finished my course. WOOT!
I have: my furnace getting cleaned, a bridal shower to go to, going up north to visit my in laws, 2 inservices to go to, have to go into school to prep for next year...and so on.
I have been reading like a person possessed.
In the last month I have read:
The Protector of the Small Series by Tamora Pierce
The Trickster's Choice and The Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce
The Immortals Series books 1 and 2 by Tamora Pierce
Flyte by Angie Sage
100 Things You Should Know About Pirates by Andrew Langley
I, Coriander by Sally Gardner
Third Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brasheares
I am currently reading the third book of the Immortals Series by Tamora Pierce...and reading all my course work journal articles in between. I also finished playing "The Bard's Tale" which was sooooooo hilarious.
I think I'm tired of reading right now though. Honestly for the last week that's ALL I have been doing. That and laundry :)
I want to GO and DO something fun....
Okay, now I'm whining.

I needed a bit of a change I think, something to break up the summer....I was thinking about cutting my hair but I've been trying to grow it for so long...didn't need to colour it as it's already stripey...soooooooo...I went and had my nose pierced. I like it, it's trendy...

I am now on WEEK 2 of having this terrible cold, mind you it has been reduced to a stuffy nose and cough right now. There is no time to do anything this week...I need to cut the lawn, clean my house, work on my course (online Library Part 2), buy the hubby a present (today is his b-day) and make a phonecall or two AND finish inventory. I need about two more days in this week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODD!
Thank you Maggie! I had forgotten that Charles DeLint's Blue Girl was on my to buy list! I heard wonderful things about it.
I haven't read anything new lately...no time at all...I AM almost finished the book by Patricia Cornwell that I started months and months ago...the one on Jack the Ripper. It's a good book...slow read but good.
I also started watching HOUSE. Oh man I love that show. It is my new favourite show (I still like CSI but man, House is such a JERK! He's so cool.) My nights have been spent watching the season one episodes on DVD (a dvd I borrowed from my sister and now have to buy). Anyway, gotta get ready for work now.
SEE YA!

So today my sorts finally came...got an interview at another school for 0.5 contract Library on Tuesday (Sorry Anthony!) and MY HELPER GIFTS FINALLY CAME IN THE MAIL! Oh, they look so sweet!
Cannot for the life of me figure out HOW to get to this school for the interview...apparently mapquest and CAA as well as google search do not acknowledge this school or it's address. So frustrating...want to smash computer.
*don't look now....frank the goat is back...
Went to visit Maggie on Saturday, at her book release in London, was very cool. She is so full of energy. She signed both of my books AND gave me a hand-made gift bag (i know, I'm spoiled...I just LOVE her). Now her books move from my Fiction section in my home library to my "Collectors" section. Joining the ranks of other signed books by: Chris Moore, R.A. Salvatore, Janet Lunn, Kevin Smith and wait that's it. But she has the honour of being the first author to sign the books WITH A PERSONAL INSCRIPTION TO ME and not just a scrawled name. Again, I love her.
Also, my hubbie was saying that all the people were discussing my t-shirt *Beware of Rowdy Librarian* at the party. I am a legend in the making. LOL! Kidding...sort of.
Oooooookay, I am so bored right now. I want to call someone or hang out or something but it's already 7:45. My friend Kate is working, Nat lives in Fergus...wow, pretty much exhausted the friend base there. I would go for a walk but my shoes are at school. :(
I should work out, but my MP3 is at school. :(
I should write but....I just don't wanna. I think my muse is on vacation...somewhere tropical.
Library Inventory looms on the horizon (Monday) and I am still in need of finishing my prep work. Still need books to come in, still need to finish EPB section (on "S" now at least), shelve entire cart of book and START Non-fiction (I weep at the thought!). I think this will kill me. At least I have GREAT HELPERS WHO ARE DOING LOTS AND LOTS OF WORK! Or at least will have enormous guilt now if they don't. There is just SO much to do!
Okay, nothing more to write at present.
